Our Sourdough Bread

About two months ago D started making sourdough after discovering a link or two on Utube about how to start it and make it. We now have a great sourdough starter in the fridge that we use & top up. In an average week we make about four loaves of sourdough.

Here are the links that D used:

* to make the starter for the sourdough

 * to make the bread 1-2-3 method

We do ours at night – 1 cup of the starter then add 1C of water, 2 tsp of salt and then 3C of flour, mix and leave to rise overnight. In the morning we amp the oven up to 250 degrees C with the casserole & lid to pre heat as well. Flour on the bench and then lightly knead the dough and then pop into dish with lid on top. Cook for 20 minutes with lid on and then 15 minutes without and then it is done.

Here is a photo of a loaf fresh out of the oven – note the steam rising. 🙂

Yum. We loved the one you made for us – the most delicious toast ever!

Oh that is great to hear! Yum as toast/toasties and in sandwiches. Easy to do as well. Prep it at night, heat oven slightly and leave in there over night and then lightly nead it in the morning and then cook.

Thanks for those links, I will give it ago. Never buy bread now, it tastes like poo compared to homemade bread 🙂
